Treatment Options for Missing Some Teeth

Solutions for missing teeth

Missing some teeth?

Let’s talk about treatment options.

If you are missing some teeth, we strongly recommend you consider replacing them. Why? We think missing teeth should be considered a disability. The primary problem with missing teeth is they make chewing more difficult. Additional issues are:

  • They are unattractive
  • They reduce the integrity of the dental arch
  • They can cause wear on surrounding teeth

The good news is you have choices when it comes to replacing missing teeth.

Below are three treatment options to consider. (In order from $=least expensive to $$$=most expensive.)

Removable Partial Denture – $

This is a removable appliance that has false teeth attached to it.  It uses hooks or other attachments to hold on to the remaining natural teeth.

A partial denture (sometimes erroneously called a bridge by some) is the least expensive way to replace missing teeth.

Fixed Bridgework – $$

A fixed bridge uses the teeth on either side to hold a false tooth in place.  The teeth on either side are prepared for dental crowns.  The fixed bridge is glued in place and does not come out.  It can look and feel like a normal tooth.

Implant Supported Teeth – $$$

Dental implants are the only true tooth replacement available in dentistry today.  The dental implant replaces the actual root of the tooth and creates a foundation to attach the missing tooth replacement. They can be used to replace one or more missing teeth.

What’s the best option for you?

Before you make a solid decision on what type of tooth replacement option is best for you, schedule an appointment with the dentist. An exam to evaluate the condition of your oral health and dental treatment to address any dental issues before you invest in any of the above mentioned treatment options will help to ensure you make the best choice.
